Caterina Cesarini - Codardia
"Caterina Cesarini - ‘CODARDIA’ (Rome). Caterina Cesarini explains the title:"
“The Italian cruise ship Costa Concordia partially sank on 13 January 2012 after hitting a reef off the Italian coast and running aground at Isola del Giglio. The captain, Francesco Schettino, was arrested on preliminary charges of multiple manslaughter, failure to assist passengers in need and abandonment of ship. Through this work of art we experience the definition of a visual icon to the cowardice of Mr. Schettino in everlasting warning for companies not to enroll such cowordly bastards in key positions. The sank cruise ship is depicted associated with the word “CODARDIA” - cowordice, title that plays in assonance to ship’s original name “CONCORDIA” - concord, harmony. The original uncommisioned and unauthorized art work has been realized in less than an hour.”
